Présentation : Durant cinquante ans, il peint les paysages de la région de Canterbury. Largement, à la manière de Wyeth*, né la même année que lui, Dry September, (1949). Ses bâtiments sont tout aussi précis, Country Churh, Kirwee, (1956, Dowse Art Museum), comme Cemetry for Sheep, (1960, ibid.).Il reprend panoramiques et vastes étendues avec Treshold, (1973, Auckland Art gallery) ou Landscape Synthesis, (1980, Aigantighe Art Gallery). Il mdernise sa technique en plaquant plan sur plan, Plantation, (1988).
